We can identify genre in a number of ways like: narrative, music, cinematography, mise-en-scene and even the director.
A typical setting for a horror could be a isolated location that is near a misty forrest.
The audience uses genre to identify films they want to see or that they would like.
Genre is important to filmmakers because they have to know what type of film they want to make. Also the audience will want to know what to expect. The filmmakers would also use the codes and conventions as a guideline.

Fight club production
Idea and screenplay
The idea for the book Fight club which the film Fight club is based on comes from when the author was bruised and swollen and his co-workers didn't ask what happened. Their reluctance to delve into his personal life inspired him to write Fight club. Jim Uhls wrote the screen play for the film. He also wrote the screenplay for Jumper (2008).
Director
The film was directed by David Fincher who also directed Seven (1995) and the social network (2010) both of these had good reaction. David Fincher is a well known director and has directed many other films, music videos and adverts.
Cast
Edward Norton stars as the main protagonist the Narrator along with Brad Pitt who played Tyler Durden.
Also Helena Bonham Carter stars as Marla Singer.
Studio
The studio which made the film is Regency_Enterprises. It is a Los-Angeles based company and it was founded in Arnon Milchan and Joseph P. Grace.
Budget
The final budget for the film was $63 million.
Location and funding
The film was shot in america, California and Los Angeles. Also it was funded by Regency Enterprises.
Other interesting things are that the author of fight club preferred the movie and that the director shot over 15,000 reels of film, three times the amount of a average 120 minute film.

Fight club introduction
Fight club is about a unnamed protagonist who has a boring and typical american office job. As he trys to deal with insomnia he meets a woman called Marla Singer that drives him crazy. Once he meets a man named Tyler Durden and loses all of his possessions his life changes. He and Tyler form a fighting club, but it soon becomes out of hand as Tyler has bigger plans for the club.
I like this film because i find the story to be interesting and i think the characters are too. Also i like the way the plot is always moving.
This is a image from a scene in the film where Tyler and the Narrator really interact properly for the first time. In this scene Tyler asks the Narrator to hit him as hard as he can. After they fight for a little while they decide to make it a regular thing, this later evolves into the fight club.
In this scene where the Narrator first meets Marla, in this scene he confronts her on being a fake and not having these diseases. After he talks to her he cant stop thinking about her.
